以下の格言の出典（書籍・ページ数）を知りたい。
“Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.”

下記資料を調査致しましたが、出典を特定することはできませんでした。

『The Kenkyusha dictionary of English quotations with examples of their use by modern authors　1st ed』（edited by Sanki Ichikawa, Masami Nishikawa, Mamoru Shimizu　Kenkyusha　1952）
この本にはEmerson, Ralph Waldo,のEnglish Traits,Essays, Jornals, Representative Men　から収録していると書いてありますが上記言葉は出てきませんでした。
p.XXiX, p.673-674

『世界名言大辞典』（梶山健/編著　明治書院　1997.11）
エマーソンの言葉は58件出てきますが（p.596）、この句は掲載されていませんでした。

その他以下の資料を調査しましたが、Emerson, 語句とも見当たりませんでした。

次にインターネット“RWE.org – Complete Works of RWE（Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson
” http://www.rwe.org/で検索語“happiness””perfume”で調査いたしましたが、結果として上記の言葉は検索されませんでした。

すでにお調べ済かと思われますが、インターネットに次の記事が掲載されていますので、参考までに紹介いたします。

をみますと多くの人々はこの言葉は小説家で講演家のOg Mandinoの言葉であると思っており、Joel Weiss が“The Quotable Manager:Inspiration for Business and Life(2006)”で、Patrick CombsとJack Canfifeldが“Major in Success（2007）の中でOg Mandinoの言葉であると書いた。多くのウェブサイトではMandinoが作者として信用を得た。Mandinoは実際”A Better　Way to Live（1990）“と“The Choice（1984）のなかでこの言葉を使っている。しかしこの引用は”Illinois Medical journal 1916““Character Lessons in American Biography　1909”“に掲載されている.Og Mandinoはちなみに1923年生まれである。
Og　Mandino　でなければだれか？
EdwardC.Goodman とTed　Goodmanの“The Forbes Book of Business Quotations（1997”）によると元の作家はRalph　Waldo Emersonであると書いている。Goodman はWilliam Gardinerの“Getting a Foothold（1927）”がソースはエマーソンであると書いてあるのに従った。実際この言葉は宣言などでエマーソンの格言ということでスピーチや随筆などで用いられた。しかしながら、”Reserch in the library among Emerson’s collected works and dictionaries of proverbs, I　have not been able to locate where he said it or anything like it”(エマーソンの著作やことわざ辞典を調査したがそれを探すことが出来なかった)と書かれております。またこれに似た言葉“Happiness is a perfume that one cannot shed over another without a few　drops falling on oneself”が作者不明でPunch の1856年10月11日号の147ページに掲載されていると書かれていました。当館は所蔵していませんので、所蔵館のフェリス女学院大学附属図書館へ照会したところ“country visitors”の一節として確かに掲載されているということでした。
